As a qualified plumber your work will be varied, you could install service and maintain a range of systems, including heating systems and bathrooms within a domestic environment.
Working with a high degree of responsibility, your duties would typically include:
• working from plans and specifications
• prepare work locations
• position and fix work components
• replace or install new installations including bathrooms and heating systems
• service and maintain systems
• work with customers, contractors and employers, planning the job and agreeing the schedule of work

You will begin your apprenticeship working towards a level 2 qualification before progressing to a level 3. This will include achieving your Technical Certificate by attending a Training Centre on either a day release or block release basis. Your National Vocational Qualification will be achieved by the work you undertake with your employer.

Established in 1990, JTL currently supports some 5,000 individuals working towards their Advanced Apprenticeship in trades such as Electrical Installation, Plumbing, Engineering Maintenance and Heating & Ventilating.
We have developed long term relationships with over 120 local colleges and some 3,000+ employers, ranging from the very small to national/international contractors within the industry. All JTL associated employers are vetted to ensure they meet robust health and safety requirements and are able to provide the work required to help JTL Apprentices thrive and succeed.
We employ 185 Training Officers, technically qualified and experienced industry professionals, covering every post code in England, who guide our learners throughout the Apprentice journey. Our Training Officers work closely with their Apprentices, providing support from the start through to achievement of all the elements of the Apprenticeship Framework; acting as the Assessor for the National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) they visit their Apprentices on a regular basis to monitor progress.

The National Minimum Wage (NMW) for apprentices is £2.73 per hour from October 2014. This applies to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged over 19 in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other apprentices the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies.
The Minimum Wage for Apprentices applies to time spent on the job plus time spent training.
