Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Trust Careers Fair – taking place at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital (Atrium Entrance) Saturday 1st October 2016, 09:00-13:30

The event aims to showcase a few of the 350 different careers to choose from in the NHS to year 12 students (current year 11 students).

Entry is by ticket only and during the morning  the young people will attend a series of workshops and see for themselves what difference they could make to people’s lives in the future.

The event will particularly interest students who are considering professional health careers with the spotlight on the familiar allied health professionals (Physiotherapist and Occupational Therapist and Radiographer), Doctors, Nurses and Dietetics, but also on the opportunities and professional roles within Medical Physics, Physiological Investigations, research, prosthetics and Neonatal Care.

In summary a fantastic opportunity for young people to visit our Hospital site, attend workshops facilitated by skilled and experienced healthcare staff, participate in discussion and activities and talk to NHS staff about their fulfilling roles and how everyday they contribute to the delivery or support of ‘Best Care for Everyone’.

Glatfelter Apprenticeship Opportunity

Glatfelter, Lydney are manufacturers of speciality papers used in the food and beverage industries. They are part of the global Glatfelter family, which is headquartered in York, Pennsylvania, employing over 4,300 people.

An opportunity to join a unique apprenticeship programme has arisen for 2016.

We are looking for four enthusiastic “A level” students (or equivalent), to become part of the future of Glatfelter and undertake a Paper Making apprenticeship. The programme is run at the Paper School in Gernsbach, Germany and taught in English. Following each module, apprentices will return to the Lydney Mill and put into practice the learnings in an operational environment.

You will graduate from the Paper School after three years as a Craftsperson; each year you will spend approximately seven weeks at the school.

Applicants should be expecting to achieve a minimum of two A levels, one of which should be in Maths, Chemistry or Physics at grade C or above. All applicants will hold a grade C at G.C.S.E. in Maths and English.

The closing date is the 30th of June with an assessment centre being held in the first week of July.

Apprenticeship Opportunities in Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy

A fantastic new addition to Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Trust portfolio of apprenticeships is an opportunity for a young person to join our therapies team and over 18 months complete an Advanced (Level 3) Clinical Healthcare apprenticeship with the Therapy team at Cheltenham General Hospital.

There will also be a second apprenticeship at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital.

These Open Evenings are specifically designed for students who are interested in studying Diplomas in Sport/Outdoor Adventure, Uniformed Public Services, Equine, Animal Management or Agriculture/Game. If you are interested in Veterinary Nursing please ensure that you register for the next University Open Day rather than the BTEC Diploma Open Day.

We strongly suggest that you come and view our unique facilities and be amazed by our outstanding 360 hectare campus, set in the heart of the beautiful Gloucestershire countryside.

You will have the opportunity to tour around the campus, receive subject specific talks and take part in Q&A sessions with our academic teams, gain a valuable insight into the financial help, student learning and welfare support that is available and view the range of onsite accommodation we have to offer.
